Helsinki--Caf'e Ekberg
Cafe Ekberg is one of the oldest cafe in Helsinki. I thought
it would be a glamour and fancy place, but it turns out to be
a rather warm and peaceful place. (well, i wont say it's cosy,
but it does have a homey feeling.)
I was really surprised to know that most of the Finns speak
really good English. Some of them even speak perfect English.
Funny though, in London, quite a lot of people speak bad English.
The waitress is a middle age woman, she looked shy and quite.
Speaking to us in a very soft tone as if she's a servant or a maid.
We asked for a cappucino and cafe au lait. Two cakes, one Napoleon,
one caramel. The cakes were absolutely gorgeous especially my
Napoleon cake. I never tasted this kind of cake before and was
surprised to find out this Frech dessert is much better than
Mont Blanc. It's sweet but not that kind of sweet that seems to
melt your teeth. Moreover, it perfectly match with my cafe au lait.
We stayed there for about two hours until the waitress switched the
lights out gently for three times, reminding us that it's closing time.
I still remembered it's quite light/bright outside, even it's already
7 pm.
Next to the cafe, it's the bakery. I didnot have the chance to get
inside, but from the widows, it seemed to be a really good bakery.
Finland is famous for its various bread products from rye to fruit
bread. We've tried some during our stays, never disappointed.
I should go back to that bakery while I was in Helsinki. Unfortunately,
I cant show you the photos.
在芬蘭的第一天下午,一路從hostel走到市中心。天氣太冷,根本走不了
幾步就躲進咖啡廳裡。在芬蘭的官方網頁上找到這間咖啡廳的介紹,裡頭
說算是老式的咖啡館。果真裝潢還真的有點令人失望,老舊、過時的感覺。
倒是人還挺多,進去點餐的時候,大多數的糕點都賣光光,好險慕名而來的
拿破輪蛋糕還躺了幾塊在冰櫃裡。
拿破崙蛋糕看起來很甜膩,沒想到吃起來一點也不。比起蒙布朗甜死人
不償命的味道,同樣也是法式甜點的拿破崙真是平易近人許多。配上
我的咖啡牛奶,真是剛剛好。凱先生一直問說會不會做這道甜點,哈哈
這種要自己做酥皮的甜點難度才不是隨便揉個麵團、攪個蛋糊就可以
搞出來,這種這麼需要技巧的甜點,還是來店裡嚐嚐就好、讓味蕾、
舌根、食道、眼睛、一起跟著食物跳動、朝拜。
附設在隔壁的麵包坊還沒有機會進去瞧瞧就關門休息了。在芬蘭吃到
很多好吃的麵包,大多數是帶有酸味的裸麥麵包。有的有鹹味有的沒有
不論早餐、午餐、晚餐都一定有各式麵包。跟英國乾巴巴的白土司相比,
的確是高檔許多。
